Spam and Virus Email Filtering

Unwanted email is a serious problem on the internet; not only is it annoying, but it also slows down your work. It also means that you might accidentally delete email you actually need by accident, because you are so used to deleting lots of emails at once.

Software installed locally goes someway to reducing the problem, but most of these packages still require you to download unwanted email, only to have it deleted straight away. A much more efficient way to identify and eliminate spam is before you download it, and have it filtered on the email server.

At Webmaint we are proud to offer our new Spam and Virus Email Filtering service. Your emails pass through our spam filter on the way to your inbox. This takes a fraction of a second, and does not change the look or content of the email in any way. Our intelligent spam filter uses a combination of heuristics, spam directories, and spam signatures to identify spam. If it thinks it has detected spam the email will be stopped and placed in spam quarantine. We then review all the email in quarantine just incase a message that's not spam is stopped.

If you own additional domain names which forward to the same email accounts, these will be covered at no extra charge.

Prerequisites

1. Your own domain. Webmaint must have administrative control in order to set up and maintain your Virus Defence. This can be accomplished with a domain transfer of an existing domain, or registration of a new one. See registrations for more information.
2. If you receive emails via email forwarding, for example you@yourdomain.co.uk forwards to you@yourcompany.freeserve.co.uk, then you should ensure that no one sends mail directly to you@yourcompany.freeserve.co.uk as this will not be forwarded through Webmaint and therefore will not be filtered.

For this small cost, we are able to filter your email for unwanted spam and viruses. Our system even learns about new spam - its rules are updated daily, and users can forward unwanted emails back to the system so that it can identify them at a later date. Rogue email addresses are blacklisted, and the amount of unwanted email you receive is significantly decreased.
